Expanding Group Presence and Enhancing Overall Sustainability Resilience
To continuously strengthen our "Brand Fleet" and enhance our global sustainability visibility, we officially invested in "Yuan Workshop," Taiwan's leading handmade herbal soap brand, on May 10, 2023. It is now a subsidiary of Shiny Brands. Yuan has long been dedicated to the application of local herbs and the promotion of natural skincare, a philosophy that aligns perfectly with Shiny Brands' direction of advancing nature alongside technology. We have officially included Yuan Workshop within the disclosure scope of this year's sustainability report. We look forward to integrating the expertise of both parties to create synergies in R&D, branding, eco-friendly packaging, and social value, further strengthening our overall organizational health in the field of sustainability.
Steady Development: Building Product Strength with Efficiency and Responsibility
In the past year, our company has remained committed to driving biotechnological advancement through innovation and scientific R&D. We have strengthened product formulation design and efficacy validation while continuing to secure multiple invention patents. Addressing the health and skincare needs of diverse consumer groups, we have actively invested in developing health supplements for seniors and school-aged children.
Regarding health foods, a total of ten products received recognition from the Anti-Additive Clean Label Organization (A.A.) this year, earning one-to-three-star and 100% Additive-Free certifications. We understand that a brand's stability stems not only from the products themselves but also from our responsibility toward people and society.
We also officially launched our new sustainable beauty brand, "BIOSEA." Developed in collaboration with O'right, a world-renowned leader in sustainable personal care, the products utilize a high proportion of natural ingredients with bio-based content exceeding 66%. By incorporating PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) packaging, the brand is dedicated to minimizing its impact on the marine environment. Upon its launch, BIOSEA was honored with international accolades, including "Best Sustainable Packaging" and "Best Carbon Neutral Product" at the UK's Global Green Beauty Awards.
To solidify the foundation of sustainable governance, following the establishment of the Corporate Sustainability Committee in 2021, Shiny Brands further established the "Corporate Sustainability Development Committee" under the Board of Directors in 2023. This committee is chaired by four independent directors, with the Administration Department serving as the executive secretary to drive cross-departmental collaboration.
In 2024, the committee held five formal meetings to regularly review action plans and performance across four key pillars: "Integrity Governance," "Product Responsibility," "Environmental Sustainability," and "Social Inclusion." We are progressively strengthening our systems, setting short-, medium-, and long-term goals, and aligning with GRI standards and the SDGs framework to meet external expectations for sustainability disclosure and practice. In terms of environmental initiatives, we have transitioned all packaging to FSC or PEFC-certified paper materials, with a 100% adoption rate for color boxes, achieving our 2025 target ahead of schedule. The overall use of eco-friendly packaging continues to rise compared to last year. Simultaneously, we have enhanced the application of AI-assisted management to optimize product quality and maximize cost-efficiency.
Social Engagement: Expanding Positive Impact
We believe that a corporation is not just an economic unit but also a member of society. For years, Shiny Brands has adhered to the principle of "giving back to society what we take from it." We continue to hold the annual "Shiny Charity Day," where the management team leads employees in hands-on efforts to support underprivileged groups and environmental conservation.
In 2024, we continued our three primary philanthropic pillars: "Environmental Sustainability," "Caring for the Underprivileged," and "Marine Education," while incorporating the SDGs framework into our program designs. This year, our total investment in social participation grew by 20.09% year-on-year, with total participation exceeding 400 person-times—1.2 times that of the previous year. Shiny Brands firmly believes that the implementation of sustainable development and ESG core principles is key to achieving long-term stable growth and creating multifaceted value. In 2024, we were honored for the third time with the "Corporate Sustainability Report - Gold Award" by the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE).
Looking Ahead
We recognize that sustainability is an endless journey requiring steady, incremental progress. Looking forward, Shiny Brands will continue to strengthen internal integration and systemic advancement, deepening our commitment to products, packaging, manufacturing processes, and social welfare, ensuring that sustainability is truly embedded in every detail.
